The War in Iraq and Afghanistan
September 11, 2001 will be the day that no one will ever forget, the day that the World Trade Center  towers was hit by three airplanes, we later came to find out that this was done by 19 Iraqi hijackers. Now, ten years later, our president Barack Obama has announced the ending of the war all together. Before I go any further, I came across a youtube video from 2008 that discusses President Obama ending the war. This video was from two years ago but what he says is going to happen during the process of ending the war is exactly what is happening now, only two years after he said it would be over. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0NLyx83v3Q
This video just proves that though Obama had the intentions of having our troops home by the summer of 2010, he was a year too late and since then more people have died. As you watch this video and then watch the news coverage of the war ending now you will see many similarities. Our troops are being brought home but thousands of them will have to stay in Iraq as trainers to the Iraqi government. This goes right along with what Obama said in the video above in 2008, troops will be sent home but we still have to keep a bunch of them there as trainers, where they will still be in danger of dying. On October 21, 2011 President Obama was quoted, “The long war in Iraq will come to an end by the end of this year”, though this may be true, many of our soldiers will be staying in Iraq and Afghanistan. The worry now for everyone is that if our troops are out of Iraq will this cause the government we have helped them build to crumble if we are no longer there to help support it. This would also hand Iran a strategic advantage in this cold war with the United States, and that will potentially ruin the alliance the U.S has with Iraq.
